All graphics must be spec'ed in the MSDB within the appropriate project id.
Note:
When spec'ing a simple edit such as "Add credit and title", set the "Graphic Artist" to "any designer", Steve will ignore these
There are 2 example files that you can copy to your originals folder and use as a template. Found here: AV: COMET_image_assets
Make the needed edits to the graphic per the specifications found below
Make sure to save a copy of the final photoshop (.psd) file in the photoshop directory
Open the image file using Photoshop.
From the menu, select Layer -> New
From the menu select Image -> image size to review and size the image
Width - 850 pixels
Height - 640 pixels
Resolution - 96 dpi (pixels per inch)
From the toolbar, select the Type tool or simply press ‘T’ to quickly select it. The Horizontal Type Tool with which you can add text horizontally is selected by default.
Click anywhere on the photo canvas, you should see the cursor change to a text cursor.
Set the font to
Ariel, Bold, Smooth
credits: 8-10 point
titles: 12-14 point but can match data as needed
labels and callouts:
somewhere in the 10-16 point range
Click on the foreground color box from the toolbar.
Change color to black, #000000 or white: #ffffff (which color has the best visibility on your image)
Click ok
Click on appropriate align tool
Title - Center align, Credit - right align
Type your text and check for typos
Select Layer from menu and click “Drop shadow”
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100
Distance: 0
Spread: 30-50
Size: 3-6
Click OK
Select the Move tool from toolbar
Hover over the text with arrow cursor, press and hold the left mouse button and drag to the desired location on image. Use the arrow keys to more accurately place the text.
Click File -> Save As and save as .psd (Photoshop format)
Add file a descriptive file name using underscores instead of spaces example: hurricane_landfall.psd
Save the .psd file in the photoshop directory on AV.
Click File -> Save As and save as JPEG (hurricane_landfall.jpg)
Quality - 12 High
Baseline standard
Click OK
Open the Photoshop document (.psd) file in Photoshop
Double click on the credit/title in the Layers panel.
The text will highlight in the Layer panel and the cursor will be in text mode.
Single click on the highlighted text to activate edit mode, use the arrow keys to move to the appropriate spot, delete text and add corrected text.
When you are finished editing, save as .psd
Save as JPEG and overwrite the old jpg file with this new corrected file.
Building a simple image:
Crediting an image:
Image Resolution: 96 dpi for all web module images.
Good image aspect ratio size is 16x9 (850x480, 800x450, 640x360)
Try to set image resolution to a rounded up number (806x456 would be 800x450)
Center align Title text, Right align credit text.
Data images should try to remain the original image aspect ratio

Set to 1920x1080 96 dpi. and all text sizes are doubled
from 850 settings, for example lower right credit goes from 10 point to 20.
HD video setting 1920x1080 resolution, 29.997 frames per second, audio leave default
Adobe Premiere setting should be 48000 Hz.
Data loops should follow the same setup (resolution, aspect ratio) as images listed above.
Data images should try to remain the original image aspect.
Photoshop or Adobe Flash (Adobe Animate) files should be save with the output files.jpg or .mov on AV
under the graphics folder.
Final graphics from these folder then move over to W (DEVED) without psd or fla file.
